Job Description

Summary: The Production Manager will contribute to exceptional levels of Customer Satisfaction and improved Operational Efficiency by fostering a safety and quality conscious, standards based, performance driven culture within the Production Department of HID Global,Shannon. This role will be a member of the Regional Leadership Team and will oversee a team of Production Leads, Operatives and a Manufacturing / Process Engineer.

The Production Department’s contributions are critical to the success of the, PACS (access control card and reader configuration),Secure Issuance (printer configuration, repair and transformation of associated consumables) and EAT (embedded and logical access reader configuration) business within HID Global.  A successful candidate will be an energetic, self-motivated, change agent who embraces continuous improvement via Lean and Six Sigma methodology.


Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Build positive relationships with others and work collaboratively across functional boundaries including as but not limited to Warehouse (3PL), Material Planning & Logistics, Procurement, Production Control, Export Co-Ordination, Trade and Quality


  • Work with Site Leadership Team to establish performance measures and associated targets for safety, employee engagement / satisfaction, customer satisfaction and operational efficiency


  • Collaborate with global peers and Manufacturing Engineering to establish standard work with measureable hourly and daily output requirements


  • Frequently communicate information related to corporate objectives placing emphasis on how group and individual measures impact the achievement of these objectives; maintains Production Balanced Scorecard as a primary means to communicate group performance


  • Build and maintain a robust Production Organisational Structure to ensure all operatives and back-ups are trained in a manner which enables them to effectively achieve and exceed standards. Developing and implementing a framework for cross training to deliver a truly flexible and agile organisation.


  • Regularly engage your team via a cadence of meetings to effectively  communicate company, group and individual performance. Utilising the forum to manage any deviations to plan and equally to enable  staff to share ideas and concerns


  • Create growth opportunities for top performers, while managing up or out those team members who consistently under perform to existing standards


  • Act as an ambassador for Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma problem solving methodologies by demonstrating their use when and where appropriate.


  • Use data analysis methods to identify, prioritize and drive improvement opportunities there by maximizing impact on performance measures given limited resource.


  • Take swift ownership of containment, root cause and corrective / preventive efforts upon recognition of Product or Delivered Quality Issues.


  • Compile and clearly present relevant Production Management information to peers and Sr Leadership via in person and/or video conferencing.


  • Ensure compliance to Inventory and Financial Control policies and procedures including cycle counts, physical inventory audit, labor & WIP variance and open work order reports.


  • Advocate and foster a culture which complies with ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System; in particular the proactive assessment and management of risk.


  • Participate in New Product Introduction processes and other various Global Ops Initiatives.


  • Maintain accurate production documentation and systems by initiating and/or reviewing Agile and Oracle Change Orders and Deviations.


  • Partner with Production Control and Mfg Engr to implement capacity based production scheduling and improved job sequencing algorithms.

Qualifications / Skills:

  • Systems based thinking and excellent analytical skills are required.

  • Drives for results through timely decision making and the ability to prioritize, plan and measure work.
  • Resolves conflicts and disputes by addressing multiple viewpoints to develop a mutually satisfying outcome.
  • Ability to perform daily tasks without constant Management / Supervisory oversight.
  • Must be proficient in MS Excel, Power Point and Office applications
  • Knowledge of Order to Delivery functionality within Oracle ERP (or similar) is required
  • Candidates should have varying levels of experience with:
    • Materials Resource Planning and Capacity Resource Planning
    • Lean Principles: 5S, Value Stream Mapping, Theory of Constraints, Kaizen, etc.
    • Production Scheduling, Capacity Modeling, Job Sequencing
    • Supply Chain Management
    • Inventory Management, Inventory Control and Material Handling

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Engineering (Industrial or Manufacturing preferred)
  • 8+ years working in and / or supporting a high-tech Production environment
  • 3+ years managing people (either direct supervisory or project management)
  • Experience operating within a Matrix orgnisational structure
  • Lean Manufacturing and / or Six Sigma certification preferred
  • Project Management Certification and / or experience is preferred
  • Certified Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) is a plus

  • Understand and actively demonstrate the principles of HID Global customer centricity policy


Work Environment

  • Employee works primarily in a fast paced Production, Office and Warehouse environment, within a well ventilated area, and is exposed to moderate noise levels
  • May require periodic physical activity lifting up to 40 lbs

Work Requirements

  • Must have flexibility to work overtime as required (including weekends) and periodically work a different shift.
  • Periodic travel (including international); must possess or able to acquire a valid passport
