The Opportunity:

We have an exciting opportunity open for an IT & Applications Support Specialist with one of Ireland’s most well renowned retail brands. This leading Irish retailer is looking for a technically skilled candidate to join their expanding IT team.

This role will sit within the Business Improvement Team and report directly to the IT Manager and Chief Technical Officer.

The IT & Applications Support Specialist troubleshoots applications and technical issue reports by internal stakeholders (being colleagues in the head office, distribution centre and retail stores), provide timely feedback, and support the roll-out of new features, among other duties.

Key Responsibilities and Deliverables:

  • 1st Level Application & IT Support
  • Responding to application & technical problems that occur abruptly and require immediate solutions
  • Logging and managing calls via an internal ticketing system
  • Troubleshooting technical & application issues
  • Diagnosing and repairing faults, resolving issues
  • Talking internal stakeholders through a series of actions to resolve a problem
  • Following up with internal stakeholders to ensure the problem is resolved
  • Escalating issues to third parties if requiring further support and overseeing issues until resolution
  • Providing excellent, timely & accurate feedback to affected stakeholders and managers, creating resolution reports for high impact issues
  • Working in tandem with ITMS provider to install and configure computer hardware, operating systems and applications
  • Managing Assets Register of computers & servers, and software licenses
  • Ordering ad-hoc hardware replacements as a result of a fault and periodic hardware upgrades
  • Support roll-out of new features and solutions
  • Test and evaluate new technology
  • Managing multiple cases at one time
  • Rapidly establish a good working relationship with internal colleagues and external IT/Software providers

What do you need to have?

  • Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Operating Systems and a good understanding of network technologies/infrastructure
  • Prior experience in applications / tech support or a similar role
  • SQL working knowledge
  • Great attention to details
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Good written and verbal communication
