Abtran has an exciting position available for a Human Resources Business Partner located in our Sligo office reporting into the Chief People Officer. We are looking for an individual who has strong consultative skills and highly effective in communicating clearly and persuasively with the ability to influence at all levels.

Are you an energetic people-person who thrives in a rapid-growth, fast-paced environment? Do you have 5 years of HR experience with at least 2 years’ experience as an HR Business Partner? If you have an HR qualification CIPD or equivalent with the ability to engage, lead and inspire, then we might have the perfect opportunity for you. To be successful, you must understand the business unit you are supporting.

You’ll need strong analytic skills and the ability to translate client business plans and goals into human resource capabilities needed to achieve results. You must be able to interface effectively with professionals at all levels in the business.

You’ll need excellent communication skills, strategic thinking, and planning ability. Agility and the ability to function in a fast-paced and innovative environment are core to what’s needed in this role. Reporting to the /Chief People Officer you will roll out organisational change programmes within your area and support in a consultative manner with your key stakeholders.

How you will spend your day:

  • Partner with your assigned business unit and ensure a deep understanding of the business strategy and implement high-quality HR practices within the team.
  • Coach and mentor business leaders to help build a strong community of leaders that will improve the development of the business. identifying training gaps in consultation with your colleagues in our Learning & Development team.
  • Be the People Champion within the Business Unit working on ways to increase morale and employee satisfaction, creating innovative ways to communicate Our EVP along with the wider HR team.
  • Actively establish initiatives to reduce attrition in collaboration with the business managers, monitoring on an on-going basis and reporting on as part of monthly metrics.
  • Manage projects with creativity and initiative, engaging and collaborating with your stakeholder group, leveraging the expertise of your colleagues in wider People Operations as required.
  • Have a deep understanding of the root cause of what Employee Relations issues managers are dealing with and proactively look for solutions to reduce these.
  • Periodically as part of the ongoing client relationship, you may be expected to articulate our “people message” in client material and agreements as part of an overall company update.
  • Provide support to key stakeholders in the following areas as required

Client tender updates,
Content review for intranet on employee benefits related activities,
Crisis communication situations,
Employee benefits updates,


  • Build and maintain effective and trustworthy working relationships with our clients, People Operations Business Partner colleagues, and across the wider business. You will also coach and develop line managers, building their skills and confidence to successfully lead their people by;

Building relationships with your peers, colleagues, and manager,
Supporting colleagues and build the right culture,
Be flexible and adapt to different situations, customers and business needs,
Sharing knowledge with colleagues and with your manager,
Recognising the part, you play in the team and contribute to its success,
Working closely with the colleagues and business unit managers to develop a retention strategy,

  • Along with the wider Talent, Acquisition and Learning & development teams work to support the strategic vision for Abtran and its employees.
  • You may be required to support the Talent Acquisition team locally by supporting Assessment Centres and interviews for both external and internal career opportunities as required.
  • Engage in and take ownership of personal development and career planning.
  • Find ways to do things better for yourself, the team, Abtran, the customer and the Client.


Person Spec & Competencies:
Essential Qualifications, Training, and Experience:

  • Degree/Diploma in Human Resources or related discipline.
  • CIPD Qualification 3-5 years’ experience as an HR Business Partner.
  • Strong knowledge of Irish Employment Law.
  • Experience with internal communications strategies and an ability to create content related to the EVP and updates related to the wider People function.
  • Experience with recruitment and selection.
  • Proficient in Microsoft packages.
  • Desired Qualifications, Training and Experience:

Proven ability to build relationships that deliver business-aligned outcomes
A team player with a sense of ownership and a “can do” attitude.
Track record of meeting targets on a daily, weekly and monthly basis
Previous experience of working in a fast-paced environment.
